LOS PALMAS 6 IN ABERDEEN

"For over 15 years, the good people of the North East of Scotland have waited to put on their Pork Pie hats and get down to some serious Nutty dancing, on Sunday 31st April it finally happened.

The Los Palmas 6 burst onto stage with a great rendition of `Madness` and suddenly it was game on. All doubts of how convincing they would be were soon dispelled, as the Nutty Sound was recreated in glorious fashion. All the great oldies were belted out as the crowd were whipped into a stomping frenzy and even the latest Madness tracks like, `Drip Fed Fred` and `Lovestruck` were delivered with such passion that even those that had never heard them before, found themselves dancing like they had been doing it all their lives.

It is great judge of a band when they know exactly what the crowd want, and the final delivery of `Night Boat to Cairo`, `One Step Beyond` and `Baggy Trousers` sent everyone home happy but begging for more.  If you have not yet got along to see the LP6, do it soon - You'll love it."

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT PURE MADNESS STRIKES AGAIN!

"It was ‘Madness’ when Dave Stobart, multi-site manager, organised a tour of a UK tribute band. And the response from customers was so overwhelming that dates are being arranged for the band to return.

‘Los Palmas 6’ is a ‘Madness’ tribute band from Clubline Promotions.  The group played a series of one-hour gigs in garrisons throughout Germany and customer feedback has confirmed that it is one of the best acts ever seen in a NAAFI club.

Dave said: “The band was absolutely fantastic! Customers are crying out for ‘Los Palmas Six’ to return.  Hopefully, we will soon have the group back to tour other clubs in Germany” – They have now been back five times!!"

NORTH OF THE BORDER WITH LP6

"Having not seen Madness live for over ten years how happy was I to see in my inbox my regular(ish) news letter from L.P.6. with Scottish tour dates! There was no need to think about if I was going, it was more of a case of when do I leave to go!!  Set off rather early heading for the Navaar Hotel in Penicuik on Saturday the 30th March, got there in time to be impressed with the sound check, then time for a chat with Stevie aka "Chuggs" and Leo (drums) then settled down for the show, with the first half kicking off with an oldie but a classic `Believe Me`, and included - `The Prince` - `Land of Hope And Glory` - `Drip Fed Fred` - `One Better Day` - and one of my all time greats, `Swan Lake`, plus loads more. The second half kicked off with a near perfect version of `Tomorrow's Just Another Day` and very expertly straight into `Shut Up`, and also included - `Bed & Breakfast Man` - `Love Struck` - `Uncle Sam` - `It Must Be Love`, and loads more with some great stage play during
`Johnny The Horse`, and the set ending with `Night Boat to Cairo`.  Was there time for any more?  Of course there was!  The night ended with `One Step Beyond` and a very fast finish to `Baggy Trousers` The end of a fantastic night, and a very good night was had by all.  So now I've been, I've seen, bought the t-shirt, and the CD and can't wait to till LOS PALMAS 6 head north of the border again."

IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SELL-OUT

"People ask, "Why go and see a tribute band? Why not go and see the real thing". Well Los Palmas 6 are why you go and see a tribute band.

They play the songs the fans want to hear. They have the enthusiasm that the fans have for the band. And most of all they play the small venues where they can react with the fans, and vice a versa.  The venue was the Navaar House Hotel; the date was Saturday 30th March. The band came on stage at just after 9:00pm and played a blistering set. Straight away a few lads got up and danced. But it took a few more beers and encouragement from friends for more people to get up and dance. The band sounded more like Madness than Madness!  They looked the part and sounded the part.  I honestly don't think that there wasn't a face with a smile on it all night. The band had a small recess and came back for a second set that was even better than the first set. Once the crowd had bought their pork pie hats & sunglasses the dance floor was crowded. I think just about every old mod and ska fan had turned up for the occasion. There were a few faces I can remember from the late 70's & early 80's, all dancing away enjoying themselves.  I had the opportunity to speak to some of the band after the gig. Like the crowd they had enjoyed themselves. But like myself they were slightly disappointed at the turn out. They had played to a full house in Dundee the night before."

LOS PALMAS 6 IN CORRINGHAM ESSEX

"On Friday 15th April, my friend Jane and I went to see Los Palmas 6 play in Corringham Essex.

The guys were on stage for two hours with a short break in between. Some of the tracks played during Set One were; Believe Me, The Harder They Come, Mummy’s Boy and also a great rendition of Land of Hope and Glory. Once the good people of Essex had downed a few more pints of Stella, they began to lose their inhibitions and got up onto the dance floor. Once up, there was no stopping them! During Set Two they danced their socks off to tracks such as One Better Day, Cardiac Arrest, Johnny The Horse and Night Boat to Cairo. Thankfully, nobody could hear my terrible warbling to The Sun and The Rain! After the guys had finished, there were huge screams from the audience asking for MORE! The guys kindly obliged, and played an encore of One Step Beyond and Baggy Trousers.

Not only did the guys sound fantastic, they also looked like they were enjoying themselves too. Bosky, the keyboard player has only played a few times with LP6 this year due to a busy schedule, but hasn’t lost his touch. Danny the drummer (dep from One Step Behind) has also only played with the band a few times, but you would never know. He has fitted in really well and played a blinding set. Their usual drummer Steve is off on tour with Terrorvision at the moment. Steve Turner (who has played with Madness and The Dangermen) was superb on sax and also did a great job singing Land of Hope and Glory. Will, the shy one, (yeah right!) and Jon were also great on guitar/bass. Chorx is a very convincing Mr. Smash - good dancer! Talking of dancing, Steve Kurz who is Suggs is fantastic. If Suggs were ever to be ill, then Steve would be a great stand in. He has the moves and the looks down to a ‘T’. He has so much energy and gives it his all.

The eagle eyed among you who may have counted 7 members of LP6. You are indeed correct! Chorx has now become a permanent member of the band.

Jane and I would like to say a huge thanks to the guys for a full filled evening. We were chatting to them after the gig, and were eventually kicked out at around 12:30am. If you get the chance to see LP6 play, then please do. You won’t be disappointed!"

THE MIS MADNESS WEEKENDER BLACKPOOL 2007

"There used to be this word called "Tribute" and much like its friend "Genius" it got over used to the point where everyone forgot what it really meant. When they saw it written over posters of men dressed in union jack pyjama suits they assumed it meant the same as words like "copying" or the phrase "a bit like". When they heard it used so often before poor singers sang songs on the x factor written by other people they assumed the word meant "borrowed from". But Last Friday when Los Palmas played, the word breathed a lung full of its feudal ancestry once again, and saw itself as an acknowledgment of gratitude, respect, and admiration, to a tribe. As a praiseworthy quality,
I pass my own Tribute to what was an excellent entertaining set of pure solid fun. A great band, a true Tribute. Must have been booked by a genius :-)"       Jon Young

"At just before 10:00pm Los Palmas 6 took to the stage, and so began two hours of not just the singles, but a massive selection of album tracks, too. Fans were overjoyed to hear almost every track from the One Step Beyond album, as well as a selection for the follow-up release, Absolutely. The assembled crowd loved every moment, and with so many great tunes it was difficult to stay away from the dance floor for more than a minute or so.

Keen to help increase the amount of money the attendees at the Madness Weekend raised for the homeless, the members of The Los Palmas 6 had kindly given away three vocal slots during their set for Madness fans to step up and have a go. The only proviso was that you need to make a £25 charity donation. It was pleasant to see that all three slots were filled before the evening started, and so we were ‘treated’ to fellow fans dancing and singing like a certain Mr. McPherson. All three performers did a fantastic job, and at the same time, raised even more for charity. Tony Bass, who sung ‘Johnny The Horse’ with the band, decided that an excellent way to make some serious money for the charity concert was to nip around the venue with an upturned hat. No member of the  audience was safe, as those assembled were gently badgered into making a donation - some people, twice!

Just before midnight the band left the stage, and like those present, were clearly tired but happy."  Rob Hazelby

"The Friday night saw the best gig of the 3 weekends in the best venue with the best tribute band playing. Los Palmas 6 played a special one off set list ranging from playing all of the One Step Beyond album to a feat that will now have them in the 2008 Guinness Book Of Records -being the only tribute band ever to play March Of The Gherkins. What a gig."   Vince Carden
